Password Protect PDFs
PDF tools for Windows
Protect PDFs with an opening password and manage document permissions locally on Windows. Choose access protection separately from editing or printing permissions.
How it works
- 1
Select your files
Open the PDF files you are authorized to use in EJoyPDF. Keep a copy of the originals.
- 2
Apply the operation
Open the password protection tools, set an opening password if needed and configure permissions separately. Save the protected document and test it by reopening it.
- 3
Review and save
Check the result and save it to a location you choose. Reopen the saved file before sharing.
What should I check before saving?
An opening password controls access to the encrypted document. Permission restrictions are a separate mechanism and depend on reader support. Store your password securely; permissions do not guarantee prevention of copying or leaks.
Edit PDFs without uploading your files
Keep personal records, contracts and business documents on your own computer. Work with PDFs locally, with no document upload step and no cloud document storage.
